They Reimagined Their Iconic Track.. Kind Of
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, staying at home is advisable in order to help flatten the curve. Because of this, more and more people have been looking for ways to entertain themselves and others too – that includes making parodies of classic hits e.g. Liam Gallagher revising Oasis songs to remind people to wash their hands regularly. There are already countless covers of The Knack’s “My Sharona” and so their fans begged them to reimagine their iconic 1979 song.
Lead guitarist Berton Averre said in a video, “Some people have asked whether we were going to get around to doing our own ‘Sharona’ corona parody song, because apparently, there aren’t enough of them. Sadly, our lead singer is no longer with us and trust me, you don’t want to hear me croak it out.”
He initially wanted to make a handwashing video but his pets apparently rejected it. They had a better idea though – to make an instructional video on how to play the guitar solo on “My Sharona. (lifetimesmilesbellevue.com) ” Towards the end, bassist Prescott Niles joins him in singing “Bye Corona!” Of course, they kept their social distance since it was nothing more than a virtual collaboration.
