AC/DC guitarist Stevie Young has been admitted to a hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, just days before the band’s scheduled performances in the city. The group is currently in the country as part of its Latin American tour, with three sold-out concerts planned at Estadio River Plate later this month.
The first show is set for March 23, and early updates suggest the concerts will continue as scheduled. Young, the nephew of AC/DC founders Angus and Malcolm Young, is still expected to perform if his condition allows. The band has not announced any cancellations or delays related to the situation.
Hospital Admission and Medical Update
According to the concert promoter, Young was taken to the hospital after experiencing health concerns while in Buenos Aires. Officials stated that he “was not feeling well.” The statement added, “As a precaution, he was admitted to a local hospital, where he is undergoing a full series of tests.”
No details have been released regarding the nature of his illness. Representatives have emphasized that the move was precautionary and intended to ensure the guitarist’s well-being before the demanding run of live performances.
In a later update, a spokesperson reassured fans about his condition. “Out of an abundance of caution, he was admitted to a local hospital where he is undergoing a full battery of tests. Stevie is doing well and in good spirits. He is eagerly looking forward to getting on stage on Monday.” The message helped calm concerns among fans preparing to attend the upcoming shows.
Role in AC/DC and Tour Plans
Stevie Young, now 69, officially joined AC/DC in 2014 after Malcolm Young stepped away from the band due to serious health issues. He had previously filled in during earlier tours and recording sessions, making him a familiar presence within the group long before becoming a full-time member. Since then, he has played rhythm guitar on tours and recordings, helping maintain the band’s signature sound during a period of transition.
Following the Argentina concerts, AC/DC will continue its tour with three performances at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City scheduled for April. After those dates, the band plans to pause touring for three months before beginning a large North American stadium run in the summer.
The upcoming shows will take the group across major cities in the United States and Canada, including stops in North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, California, Alberta, Vancouver, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Ontario, Quebec, and New Jersey. The tour is scheduled to conclude with a performance in Pennsylvania later in September.
Fans traveling to the Buenos Aires concerts continue to await further updates, while organizers remain focused on ensuring the shows proceed safely. For now, band representatives indicate optimism that Young will recover quickly enough to return to the stage alongside his bandmates for the opening night performance.
