Now in its 4th year, Sammy Hagar’s famed Acoustic 4 A Cure benefit concert took place Monday night and while co-founder James Hetfield couldn’t be there due to Metallica’s touring commitments, the night was an overwhelming success as a veritable who’s who list of rockers came armed with acoustic guitars and the spirit of generosity in their hearts to create a night to remember to help raise funds for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Accompanied by her husband and longtime collaborator Neil Giraldo, rock legend Pat Benatar took the stage Monday night and delivered a career-spanning performance of her biggest hits, dazzling with a particularly killer acoustic medley of the song that started it all for the 64-year-old singer-songwriter, “Heartbreaker”.
Fun Fact: In its 3rd year, Acoustic-4-A-Cause is headlined by Metallica’s James Hetfield and the Red Rocker himself, Sammy Hagar, to help raise funds for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Spirits were high as Pat and Neil sang and strummed their way through the three song medley, that included an adorable Johnny and June-esque cover of Cash’s 1963 classic “Ring of Fire” and Roky Erickson’s “Don’t Slander Me” sandwiched in between the beginning and thrilling ending of “Heartbreaker” and of all the many, many times we’ve seen Pat perform live, she’s never been more radiant than she is in the video you’re about to see. See all of this and more in the video below and as always, enjoy!
