Whitesnake Returns After a Long Break

With classic songs like “Here I Go Again” and “Still of the Night,” Whitesnake became one of the biggest rock bands of the 1980s. However, fans haven’t seen the group perform live together in over three years.

In 2022, lead singer David Coverdale, now 73, had to cancel the European and North American legs of the band’s farewell tour. He had a “persistent upper respiratory infection” and needed time to recover. Since then, fans have been waiting for the group to make a return to the stage.

Festival Performance Without Coverdale

Now, according to American Songwriter, the wait is almost over. On May 31, during a press conference, it was announced that the band will reunite at the 2025 Zaječar Guitar Festival in Serbia. The show is scheduled for August 29 and will mark the band’s return — but with one major change.

Coverdale won’t be performing with the band. Instead, other longtime members like drummer Tommy Aldridge, guitarist Joel Hoekstra, and keyboardist Michele Luppi will take the stage. They’ll be joined by former bassist Marco Mendoza.

A New Frontman Steps In

Taking Coverdale’s place as lead singer is keyboardist Dino Jelusick. With this new lineup, the band is now calling themselves The Whitesnake Experience.

They plan to play a “special set list of Whitesnake’s greatest hits,” and everything has been approved by Coverdale himself. That part seems especially important for fans who were worried about how things might change without him.

Fans React to the Comeback

Even though Coverdale won’t be front and center, people still seem excited to see the band on stage again. His support of the project seems to be giving fans confidence in this new version of the band.

And as fans are quick to point out, The Whitesnake Experience might offer something different—but still special. Since Coverdale gave his full support, many are looking forward to seeing how the band honors its past while moving forward
