Tom Morello Teases Possible 2026 Tour Plans With Bruce Springsteen

Tom Morello has postponed several of his planned spring solo dates to make room for a high-profile collaboration: joining Bruce Springsteen on his 2026 U.S. tour. Morello is set to appear at every stop on the run, contributing to select songs throughout the nightly performances.

A Schedule Shift for a Larger Stage

The decision marks an unusual move for Morello, who acknowledged the impact on fans expecting his solo shows this May. “I have a deep love and respect for all my friends, fans and comrades, and I’m sorry that I must reschedule some of my May solo shows,” he said in a statement. “I promise that we will find a way to be together for these shows, in these towns, very soon.”

Springsteen’s Land of Hope and Dreams tour is slated to begin in March in Minneapolis, following his recent appearance at Morello’s Defend Minnesota! benefit concert. That event raised funds for families affected by federal immigration enforcement, and featured the pair performing Springsteen’s new protest song, “Streets of Minneapolis.” The moment served as both a musical collaboration and a political statement, setting the tone for what lies ahead on the tour.

A Longstanding Creative Alliance

Morello and Springsteen’s working relationship spans nearly two decades. Their first onstage collaboration came in 2008, when Morello made guest appearances during Springsteen’s Anaheim shows. He later joined Springsteen at the 2009 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and temporarily filled in for E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt during the 2013 tour.

The partnership has also extended into the studio. Morello appeared on two tracks from Springsteen’s 2012 album Wrecking Ball and contributed to eight of the 11 songs on 2014’s High Hopes. He subsequently toured with the E Street Band and made a guest appearance during a 2016 stop on The River Tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Music, Activism, and the Road Ahead

Morello has framed his decision to delay his own tour as a response to the urgency of the current political climate. “After Bruce joined me last month in Minneapolis for our Defend Minnesota! charity concert, I was reminded how important our platform is,” he said, “and how crucial the resistance work is that our music can do together at this dangerous historical juncture.”

Springsteen announced the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour earlier this month, with 20 dates currently confirmed and a final stop scheduled for late May in Washington, D.C. The itinerary includes multiple nights at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

“Together, Bruce, the E Street Band, and I are going to turn a spotlight on the current threats to democracy and human rights happening all around us on the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour in the spirit of freedom, justice and rock ’n’ roll,” Morello added.

Beyond the logistics of rescheduled dates and added guest appearances, the tour signals something larger: a renewed commitment to the idea of rock music as both cultural force and civic voice. For Springsteen, it continues a decades-long tradition of weaving social commentary into stadium-sized performances. For Morello, it represents another chapter in a career defined by activism as much as virtuosity. Together, the collaboration suggests that this tour is designed not just to entertain, but to provoke, challenge, and remind audiences why rock ’n’ roll has long been inseparable from the politics of its time.
