Stevie Ray Vaughan Plays Capitol Theatre’s Last Show EVER

Stevie Ray Vaughan Plays Capitol Theatre’s Last Show EVER | Society Of Rock Videos

His Powerhouse Performance Closed The Venue’s 15-Year Chapter

By 1985, the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey was weeks away from closing its doors forever. Before the venue locked its doors and threw away the key, however, the Capitol had one more trick up its sleeve for its legions of devoted fans – a farewell concert that featured Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble on their wildly successful Soul To Soul tour.

On September 21, 1985 Stevie took the Capitol’s stage for the last time for a powerhouse performance that included this rowdy rendition of ‘Lookin’ Out The Window’ that not only got the crowd on its feet, but softened the blow of the venue closing by giving everyone a night to remember.

Fun Fact: ‘Lookin’ Out The Window’ was written by Stevie’s longtime friend and collaborator, Doyle Bramhall.

I don’t know what it is about this particular performance, but it’s one of the best of Stevie’s entire career. Maybe it’s because the venue would be closed within weeks, or maybe it’s just the passion and magic that Stevie brought to the stage every time he set foot under those lights – but this performance of ‘Lookin’ Out The Window’ is one you definitely don’t want to miss!

+ Lookin’ Out The Window lyrics +

Well I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you
Yeah I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you

Well I’m dreamin’ all the sweet dreams and the memories of the past
Feel so fine honey, thats why our love should last
Feel so good baby and it’s all because of you
I’ve gotta love ya, I need to love ya, I want to love ya so nice
We’re havin’ all the time to ourselves
Yeah we’re havin’ all the fun to ourselves

Lord I’m pickin’ up the pieces off the shelf
Won’t take long baby ’cause there’s hardly any left
Feel so good baby but it’s all because of you

I’ve gotta love ya, I need to love ya, I want to love ya so nice
I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you
Yeah I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you

Well I’m dreamin’ all the sweet dreams and the memories of the past
Feel so fine honey, thats why our love should last
Feel so good darlin’ and it’s all because of you
I’ve gotta love ya, I need to love ya, I want to love ya so nice

I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you
Yeah I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you
Yeah I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you
