Carlos Santana has canceled another concert after collapsing during soundcheck in San Antonio on Tuesday. His team has confirmed that the 77-year-old guitar legend is recovering and still plans to continue his 2025 tour once he’s feeling better.
Dehydration Leads to Postponement
Santana was preparing for his San Antonio show at the Majestic Theatre when he suddenly collapsed. Local fire officials reported it was due to a “non-life-threatening condition.” His manager, Michael Vrionis, later confirmed it was dehydration. Vrionis said in a statement:
“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed.
“Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his U.S. Tour.”
The next scheduled concert, which was set for Wednesday in Sugar Land, Texas, has also been canceled.
On the Road to Recovery
Thankfully, according to Mercury News, Santana is “feeling much better” after a brief hospital stay. If all goes well, his tour will pick back up on Friday with a performance at Lucas Oil Live at WinStar in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Santana is currently touring to promote Sentient, a new retrospective album released in March. The record features both classic tracks and three never-before-released songs. Guest appearances include music legends like Smokey Robinson, the late Miles Davis, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and Michael Jackson. His last album of all-new material was 2021’s Blessings and Miracles.
Not His First Health Setback
This isn’t Santana’s first run-in with dehydration. Back in July 2022, he collapsed mid-show in Detroit and had to postpone several dates. Earlier this year, he also delayed a Las Vegas residency after a fall at home. Despite the setbacks, Santana remains committed to getting back on stage soon—and fans are rooting for his full recovery.
