Is This The Most Metal Thing Ever?
47-year old Nelson Hidalgo was in great spirits because of the New York Mets series of home games and what better way to celebrate than by drinking Coors Light while listening to his favorite music. But he just took it on another level. Instead of staying at home in his couch, he brought his van at the intersection of 127th Street and 35th Avenue at 10:45 PM. With 80 speakers plastered all over his vehicle, he was literally blasting his music and even started drawing in a huge crowd.
It was so loud the Citi Field bullpen had no choice but to call the cops. And how did Hidalgo deal with them?
“I spent over $20 grand on this equipment,” Hidalgo allegedly told police that night, according to court records. “I know it’s illegal, but it’s the weekend.”
“How come I don’t get a ticket this time?” he added. “I usually get a ticket or it gets thrown out; or I pay a little fee.”
He has no prior arrests but on that Saturday night, he was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, general noise prohibition, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the driver’s view. Although he was released without bail, he’s set to show up in court on August 1.
We just hope he won’t be cranking up his tunes then.
