Veteran rock outfit Journey has postponed two major tour stops in the American Midwest, citing illness within the group, as new comments from frontman Arnel Pineda add a layer of complexity to the band’s farewell run.

Illness Forces Last-Minute Changes

Guitarist Neal Schon confirmed that scheduled performances in Des Moines and Lincoln would not proceed as planned due to health concerns affecting a member of the touring party. The decision, while necessary, disrupted plans for fans who had already arranged travel and attendance.

“Dear friends, Des Moines and Lincoln – we’re sincerely sorry we had to postpone our shows due to illness,” Schon said. “This is never an easy decision, and we know many of you made plans, traveled, and were ready to sing with us.”

He continued:

“Please hold onto your tickets while we address the current schedule. We want nothing more than to come back and make those nights unforgettable. As always, we thank you for your patience, your loyalty, and your incredible spirit. Thank you!”

Pineda’s Candid Remarks Resurface

The postponements come amid renewed attention on Pineda’s recent interview, in which he spoke openly about personal struggles and uncertainty surrounding his future with the band.

“Back in 2024, I said to [the band], ‘If you’re planning to do a farewell tour, you better tell me, because my issues and my personal problems are getting more intense, and I don’t know if I want to go with you,’” Pineda revealed.

He added:

“As they say, silence can be louder than explaining. I said to them I wanted to retire because of my personal problems. No answer. Obviously, they don’t want to find another singer.”

While his comments point to internal strain, the band has emphasized that the current cancellations are strictly related to health concerns rather than interpersonal conflict.

Farewell Tour Faces Uncertain Road Ahead

The affected shows—originally scheduled at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines and a venue in Lincoln—have been officially postponed, not canceled, with organizers urging fans to retain their tickets as rescheduling efforts continue.

Journey’s Final Frontier Tour, announced in November 2025 and launched in February 2026, is intended to serve as the band’s final large-scale outing, with a projected conclusion in summer 2026. However, the illness—requiring rest and recovery—raises the possibility of further disruptions, potentially creating a ripple effect across upcoming dates.

The next scheduled performance is set for April 12 in Salt Lake City, a date that may indicate whether the band can maintain momentum or face additional setbacks. For now, management maintains that all efforts are focused on ensuring the tour continues, while preserving the health of those involved.
