After 31 years of commitment to the band, Chicago have parted ways with singer/bassist Jason Scheff. The longtime member has been the solid foundation of the band ever since the departure of Peter Cetera in 1985. Since then, Jason has been instrumental (no pun intended) in the band’s continued success. Chicago has since released a Facebook post addressing the departure.

Jason Scheff and Chicago have both noted that the reason for the departure was mainly due to “family health reasons”, though neither exactly specified what they were. Nevertheless, we are all sad to see Jason leave the group, but we know that both Jason Scheff and Chicago will have great success many years down the road. We also sincerely hope that whatever it is specifically that is preventing Jason to stay in Chicago will eventually be resolved. We wish both Jason and the band all the best!
