A New Chapter for Stevie and Lindsey?

Following the long-awaited reissue of their 1973 album Buckingham Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham has suggested that his creative partnership with Stevie Nicks may not be finished just yet.
In a recent social media video, Buckingham reflected on the renewed momentum surrounding the album, hinting that it has sparked something deeper between the two. “Just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did, to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,” he said.
The reissue marked a significant milestone. Not only was it the album’s first official release in decades, but it also finally became available on CD—something fans had long awaited. The renewed attention has seemingly reopened creative and personal channels between the former couple, whose history has been as turbulent as it has been musically influential.
New Music and Projects on the Horizon
Beyond revisiting the past, Buckingham is firmly focused on new work. In the same video, he shared optimism about the year ahead, despite broader political tensions. “I think 2026 is going to be a very interesting, and despite what’s going on in Washington, I think it’s going to be a very good year,” he said.
He also revealed that his long-in-progress solo album is nearing completion. “I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years,” Buckingham explained, adding that it is now “one song away from being finished” and likely to arrive later this year.
Additionally, fans can look forward to a forthcoming documentary on Fleetwood Mac, directed by Frank Marshall, which Buckingham noted is “waiting in the wings for this year” and set to premiere on Apple TV.
A Complicated Bond, Revisited
Buckingham and Nicks’ relationship—both romantic and professional—has long been defined by its volatility. After Buckingham’s 2018 exit from Fleetwood Mac, reportedly at Nicks’ insistence, the two spent years estranged. However, signs of reconciliation emerged in 2025.
Nicks confirmed that they had resumed communication, reflecting on their shared past with a mix of nostalgia and honesty:
“Lindsey and I started talking about [our early days together]. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us. Our relationship was up and down and up and down and up and down and difficult, but at the same time, fantastic. And what we were doing was so fantastic that it was worth putting up with the trials and tribulations of a relationship that’s difficult.”
Buckingham, for his part, remains cautiously hopeful. “What that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet, but I believe with all my heart that it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate,” he said.
For now, the possibility of a renewed collaboration remains just that—a possibility. But for fans of one of rock’s most iconic partnerships, even the suggestion is enough to spark anticipation.
