Although we all know and love the iconic “slow” version of “We Will Rock You“, Queen actually originally recorded this in a more upbeat, rocker tone and performed it live in Japan, in 1979.
The live footage of this performance was released in the “Queen Absolute Greatest Videos“, a compilation album of the greatest and most memorable Queen performances and moments.
As this sport related ballad is known to build throughout the song, this quicker, rock version of the song really gets us up on our feet just like the Japanese audience in the video.
Fun Fact: Queen guitarist Brian May wrote this, and claimed the idea for the song came in a dream.
Sporting his jazzed out, police themed outfit, Freddie really knows how to bring up the tempo and deliver any type of version of this song to get the crowd going.
