Elvis Costello recently dropped by for a chat on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Costello discussed his latest release – an all-Spanish reimagining of his classic LP This Year’s Model, now titled Spanish Model. He also talked about seeing Hollywood actress Charlize Theron in Disneyland, his Audible original “How to Play the Guitar and Y”, and of course, he tries to teach Kimmel how to play the guitar.

“I sort of start it off with a completely ludicrous premise that,” Costello said, “you know my musical talent comes from a great study of astrology. And I share my birthday with, as you can probably tell from my suave demeanor, you know Sean Connery.”

“Anyway, it all leads to the idea that you can put a lot of things in your way when learning to play an instrument,” he explained. “You can put your own fear, but the main thing that obstructs most people is they begin the key of C.”

“But if you’re going to play the guitar, what you really want to do, you want to get the song out,” he added. Costello then proceeded to teach Kimmel how to play the guitar.
