Def Leppard opened their new Las Vegas residency on Feb. 3 with a redesigned stage show and a set list that surprised longtime fans. The concert took place at Caesars Palace and marked the start of a special run focused on change. Videos from the night quickly spread online as the band showed a different approach.

Earlier in the week, singer Joe Elliott said the residency would look and sound different from past tours. The group wanted to avoid repeating old ideas. The Las Vegas shows give them time to adjust details and try songs that are not often heard during large arena runs.

A Promise of Change on Stage

Elliott explained the reset in an interview before opening night. “We’ve scrapped everything we’ve ever used over the last five or six tours,” he told People. “We’ve actually just got rid of it and came up with a whole new stage show, including set list. It’s pretty spectacular, [It’s] where we’ve always wanted to be.”

Those changes were clear from the first minutes. Instead of starting with a familiar hit, Def Leppard opened with their new single “Rejoice.” The choice signaled that the band plans to mix fresh material with older tracks, rather than leaning only on songs that shaped their 1980s fame.

Rare Songs Return

Another surprise came soon after. Three songs into the show, the group performed their 2018 cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” live for the first time. The track added a darker tone and showed the band is still willing to experiment beyond its core hard rock style.

They also brought back “White Lightning” from the Adrenalize album. The song honors late guitarist Steve Clark and had not been played since 1993. Its return gave the night an emotional layer, connecting the current lineup with an important part of the band’s past.

What Comes Next

The Las Vegas residency runs through Feb. 28, giving fans several chances to see this version of the show. After that, Def Leppard plans to start a world tour on March 25 in India. Dates are scheduled through Aug. 2, covering multiple regions. The tour will place the band in front of both longtime followers and younger listeners discovering the group through streaming platforms and classic rock playlists around the world this year.

Full ticket details and show information are available on the band’s official website. The venue setup, lighting, and video screens were built specifically for this run, allowing closer views and tighter sound than many stadium dates on this tour cycle. By reshaping the stage design and song choices, Def Leppard is using the residency format to rethink how it presents its music. The opening night showed a group still active, willing to adjust, and aware of its long history.
