The top 5 1976 hit song “The Things We Do for Love” by 10cc was covered in a live performance by Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin.

The duo’s third annual Hanukkah Sessions series, in which they honor Jewish musicians, now includes this most recent installment. Inara George, a member of Kurstin’s band the Bird and the Bee, joined Grohl and Kurstin for the said live performance.

“The Things We Do for Love” was the first single Gouldman, Stewart, and drummer Paul Burgess released after Godley and Creme separated in 1976 to start their own more experimental band.

Hanukkah Sessions, on the other hand, were started by non-Jewish Grohl and Kurstin in 2020. As per Grohl, the series has expanded much beyond its original goals. He commented at the end of the 2020 series:

“This project, which started as a frivolous concept, grew to reflect something far more important to me. No matter how many candles are still left to light on the menorah, it has taught me that a small act of spreading joy and happiness can go a long way. As we move forward, we should all make an effort to do this.”
