War Zone Victim Sings “Imagine”, And It Will Inspire You
Imagine…
Emmanuel Kelly, an Iraqi survivor, along with his brother, were found in a shoe box outside of a war zone and were put into an orphanage.
“It was like looking at an angel when mum walked through the orphanage door…She brought us to Australia originally for surgery..and then, sort of, mum fell in love with both of us…”
Emmanuel is not even sure how old he is since he was born without a birth certificate, so it is a tender moment when the judges question him about his age… and he cannot answer…
Choosing John Lennon’s “Imagine” to serenade the audience, Emmanuel’s beautiful and soulful rendition guarantees not a dry eye in the stadium. His bravery, courage, hope and perspiration to follow his dreams are more than moving and we commend his persistence and determination…
Interesting Fact: Yoko Ono, John Lennon’s widow, actually tweeted Emmanuel after watching his moving performance saying “Thank you, Emmanuel. You sang beautifully! Thank you. John would have been proud of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Love, yoko.”
As he passes with flying “yes’s” Emmanuel wins over the crowd and judges with his power and courage and it is honestly incredible.
