Joe Walsh Proves His Genius In 1977 “Rocky Mountain Way” Performance | Society Of Rock Videos

There’s Nothing Rocky About This

This performance is literally 7 minutes and 23 seconds of pure gold. Joe Walsh is an icon as a lyricist, guitar player and human being for beautifully creating the hit “Rocky Mountain Way.”

In 1977, The Eagles performed at their peak, wowing Washington D.C.’s Capital Centre with their critically acclaimed best show EVER. The acoustics were right, the men were on it and everyone had a great time- for once.

“And we don’t need the ladies cryin’ ’cause the story’s sad, ’cause the Rocky Mountain way, is better than the way we had….”

Absolutely destroying the talk box with ease, Joe adopts this popular vocal technique and makes it own so much so that Peter Frampton would be more than proud, possibly even floored.

Interesting Fact: After his group the James Gang at the end of 1971, Joe Walsh moved from Cleveland to Boulder, Colorado, where he wrote this song, which celebrates the scenery and the lifestyle of Colorado.

Besides the many things that Joe brought to the Eagles, we are so thankful and happy that he brought this song along with him from his past. This is by far one of our favorite Eagle songs and always will be.

+ Rocky Mountain Way Lyrics +

Spent the last year
Rocky Mountain Way
Couldn’t get much higher
Out to pasture
Think it’s safe to say
Time to open fire

And we don’t need the ladies
Crying ’cause the storie’s sad
’cause the Rocky Mountain Way
Is better than the way we had

Well he’s tellin’ us this
And he’s tellin’ us that
Changes it every day
Say’s it doesn’t matter
Bases are loaded and Casey’s at bat
Playin’ it play by play
Time to change the batter

And we don’t need the ladies
Crying ’cause the storie’s sad, uh huh
Rocky Moutain Way
Is better than the way we had
Hey, hey, hey, hey
