The Yardbirds served as the launching pad of guitar gods Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton. Early in their career, they were a blues-based band best known for their signature “rave-up” instrumental breaks. Later on, they explored other territories like pop, psychedelia, and hard rock.
Although they didn’t achieve massive commercial success like some of their contemporaries, they are often cited as one of the 1960s rock acts who heavily influenced punk rock, progressive rock, and heavy metal. In 1992, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
