A Historical Event
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ live performance at the 2014 LOCKN’ Festival will be livestreamed for free on Saturday, May 16 and can be accessed by registering on the FANS website here. Scheduled for streaming at 9pm ET, it aims to raise money for MusiCares and Food Bank NYC. Spotify will also match the donations made to MusiCares for up to $10 million.
FANS.com promises that “This historical set from LOCKN’ will give you a taste of the festival’s trademark vibe.” They also advise to “Take your “couch tour” to the next level; pitch a tent in your backyard, set up your camping chairs, stock up the cooler, and create some new memories that will last a lifetime.” And they added, “Pro tip: If one of your friends goes missing from the stream after the first 5 minutes, make sure they show up at the end of the show with a crazy story.”
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ headlined the event with a two-hour career-spanning set on Saturday, 6 September 2014 in Arrington, VA. Their setlist included some of their classic hits like “Free Fallin’,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “American Girl,” “Refugee,” “Learning to Fly,” and “I Won’t Back Down.” They even covered The Byrds’ “So You Wanna Be A Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.”
