Get Back Jojo!

Performing one of Paul’s unforgettable hits at The Princes Trust Concert in ’86, Paul and Tina are electric together in melodic harmony and stage energy. “Get Back” has always been one of those funky, fun classics that we love to hear Paul sing, but with Tina the talent between the two is taken to a whole different level.

Originally the song had somewhat negative connotation toward Pakistanis and used the song to tell the people to get back to their country, but Paul took the song over and removed the offense from the lyrics. As the Beatles took on the song, they wanted it to be about returning to the roots of their talents and making fans happy, rather than getting caught up in the studio hustle and drama.

Interesting Fact: There was speculation that the character “JoJo” was based on Joseph Melville See Jr., Linda McCartney’s first husband, who was from Tucson, Arizona. McCartney denied this, explaining in his 1988 autobiography Many Years From Now, that he and Linda were on good terms with See, who used the first name Melville, and that “JoJo” was “an imaginary character, half-man and half-woman.” See never remarried, and in 2000 he killed himself in Tucson.

Despite the drama and history that was behind this song, Paul had the purest intentions and the only thing that could make it better is Tina in it.

As you will see in the video, the performance concluded the legendary concert of big names like Clapton, Elton John, Phil Collins and others. Watching the stars of rock wave goodbye as they walk off the stage together will really fill your heart with hope and peace. Enjoy this amazing performance!
