Come On In And See What’s Cooking
Étouffée, gumbo, jambalaya – y’all, we love us some good old fashioned bayou cuisine just as much as the next bunch, but this next recipe just might be our brand new favorite! That’s right, everyone – we’re bringing you alligator chili, courtesy of Allrecipes and home cook Doug, who took time out of his busy day at his home in Mendham, New Jersey to show us all how he throws down in the kitchen and crafts an alligator chili so good, you’ll never want to eat anything else.
Now I know what you’re thinking – “But there are no alligators in New Jersey!“ and you’re absolutely right, which is why Doug purchases his gator meat fresh from a Louisiana based company and shared with us that though the idea of eating alligator might be strange to some, they have nothing to fear – coarsely chopped it looks an awful lot like chicken, and when cooked tastes just like pork.
Taking us from a coarse blend of gator meat and savory vegetables to a hearty bowl of chili complemented by a plate of warm corn muffins and a table full of family to share it all with, Doug’s crash course in all things gator chili is sure to get your tummy rumbling and if, like us, you’re dying to try something new, you can snag the recipe here. Happy eating!
