Doin’ Paul Proud

Meet the boys of Rockyard, an Ontario rocker band that really captures the soul and passion of the Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” with awesome guitar work, drum work and killer vocals by lead singer Matt Wary-Smith. Chances are that you have not yet seen these guys do their thing so we are more than happy to share their “bad ass-ness” right along.

Interesting Fact: The first version was a 27-minute jam that was never released. During the July 18, 1968 sessions, The Beatles recorded this version, which was much slower and much more tame than the album version.

“Helter Skelter” was Paul McCartney’s attempt to write a badass rocker song with a serious kick to it, compared to the pop-like songs and tunes the band wrote and performed in their earlier years of Beatlemania. Influenced by a quote he had seen from The Who’s Pete Townsend, Paul decided to write “Helter Skelter” to kick the rock up a notch.

Just as Paul set out to do this for the band, we believe that Rockyard possesses the same passion and desire we saw in the eyes of the Beatles all of those years ago. Turn it up loud and rock out with the boys of Rockyard!

+ Helter Skelter Lyrics +

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again.

Do, don’t you want me to love you
I’m coming down fast but I’m miles above you
Tell me, tell me, tell me, come on tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Helter skelter, helter skelter
Helter skelter.

Will you, won’t you want me to make you
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Look out
Helter skelter, helter skelter
Helter skelter.
Look out ’cause here she comes.

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again.

Well do you, don’t you want me to love you
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you
Tell me, tell me, tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Look out
Helter skelter, helter skelter
Helter skelter.

Look out helter skelter
She’s coming down fast.
Yes she is.
Yes she is

(I’ve got blisters on my fingers)
