Performing “Stranglehold,” Ted Nugent is on fire with bandmate Derek St. Holmes on lead vocals and some seriously sweet solos and riffs that pretty much defined rock forever. From his 1975 album, “Stranglehold” is Ted’s first single and track ever and was ranked the 31st greatest guitar solo of all time by Guitar World.

Although Ted claimed that the lyrics do not depict the way he feels toward women and arsenal, the words of the song describe the physical and mental, or “strangle” hold (if you will) that this man has over a woman, not letting her go for anything. Threatened with misogyny after recording the song, this rocker was definitely a bad ass and didn’t even allow singer St. Holmes to take lead vocals anymore out of sheer jealousy.
