Tell Him Darlin’
From DVD “One Night In Texas,” Stevie ray Vaughan makes his guitar wail, bed and cry to “Love Me Darlin” and it may just be one of our favorite performances of him ever. Shining in his home state of Texas, you really can see the “pride and joy” in Stevie’s face as he performs this wonderful blues tune with his buddies.
“Wo tell me darlin’ am I right or am I wrong? I said tell me darlin’ am I right or am I wrong? I’m determined to know little girl you comin’ home, come on home baby…”
The short and simple lyrics tell a story of man trying to speak to his woman about their relationship, worried about losing her but at the same time being firm about his standards as a man. Although he loves her, he can feel her slipping away and just wants to know the truth in her heart.
Interesting Fact: He formed the band Triple Threat in 1975 with vocalist Lou Ann Barton, bassist Jackie Newhouse and drummer Chris Layton. When Barton left in 1978, Vaughan took over vocals and the band was renamed “Double Trouble.”
This is just your every day average blues tune filled with question and resentment, but by no means is this just your average performance. Stevie Ray Vaughan is and always will be our favorite blues star and songs like this are the reason why. Enjoy!
+ Love Me Darlin Lyrics +
Well now tell me darlin’ may I have a talk with you
Wo tell me darlin’ may I have a talk with you
Because it won’t be long before our true love will be through
Wo tell me darlin’ am I right or am I wrong
I said tell me darlin’ am I right or am I wrong
I’m determined to know little girl you comin’ home
Come on home baby
Now now listen to me baby while I hold your hand
Don’t want anything from you but be your lovin’ man
Now tell me darlin’ may I have a talk with you
Because the words I have to tell you they will linger through the years
I love you honey
