The Osbournes’ step up to the plate and create an all-star masterpiece

In ’05, Ozzy and wife Sharon Osbourne assembled and all-star cast to collaborate on the hit song “Tears in Heaven” to raise money for the earth shattering quake and tsunami that took place in Southeast Asia. Sales from the recording benefited the storm recovery benefits.

Seeing a slew of celebrities come together for the good of people is always incredibly special. Celebrities that use their star-power to raise their voices for good, and to make a difference is extremely heart-warming, and powerful.

From 12 January 2010 to 31 July 2010, the DEC appealed for donations in support of humanitarian relief in the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, raising a total of 107 million dollars!

The all-star cast included; Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Pink, Slash, Duff “Rose” McKagan, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Katie Melua, Josh Groban, Scott Weiland, Robbie Williams, and Rod Stewart. Ozzy and daughter Kelly also recorded on the track, while wife Sharon and “American Idol judge Simon Cowell produced the song.

The Disasters Emergency Committeev is an umbrella group comprising 13 UK charities. These charities are all associated with disaster related issues such as providing clean water, humanitarian aid and medical care.

Eric Clapton’s original version of “Tears” was tragically written after the death of his 4-year-old son Conor in 1991. The stripped-down, acoustic version of the song took home several Grammy awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

+Tears in Heaven lyrics below+

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I’ll find my way
Through night and day,
‘Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There’s peace I’m sure,
And I know there’ll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven.
