All Regular Concert-Goers REJOICE!
According to a recent study by Victoria’s Deakin University published by SAGE Journals, those who go to gigs on a regular basis are happier about their lives overall. The research was titled ‘If You’re Happy And You Know It: Music Engagement And Subjective Well-being’ and surveyed 1000 Australians. From going to large concerts to simply dancing the night away, it’s all about the communal experience – that is perhaps the most important aspect in this study. So basically it’s not the same thing as listening to music alone in your room even if you crank it up.
It further said:
“The findings also emphasised the important role of engaging with music in the company of others with regard to [subjective wellbeing], highlighting an interpersonal feature of music.”
As if you need any more reason to buy those concert tickets. But hey, if anyone asks why you love hitting the mosh pit, just show them this study.
