Vai Announces “Six-String Extravaganza” Of A Tour

This spring, the term “supergroup” is going to be redefined and completely thrown out the window with a brand new tour that you definitely don’t want to miss – The Generation Axe Tour. In its inaugural year, Generation Axe is a celebration of 5 of rock and metal’s top axe-slingers and features legend Steve Vai as he tours North America with Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society, Yngwie Malmsteen, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt and Tosin Abasi of progressive metal band Animals As Leaders for a total of 26 performances that showcase the group’s individual talents and the magic these 5 musical powerhouses create together onstage.

Totally unique in that each tour stop will include a variety of collaborations by the five players – including everyone performing together as one cohesive band – The Generation Axe Tour boasts an all-star rhythm section that features the talents of Edgar Winter bassist Pete Griffin, Nick Marinovich on keys, and Jeremy Colson on drums.

An excited Vai describes the month long affair by calling The Generation Axe show a “unique performance of five fiercely talented guitar players coming together to create a six-string extravaganza that is sure to amaze and delight” – and we couldn’t be more excited!
