Happy Halloween!

We figured we would stick with the eerie, creeping theme of Halloween with a rare “Black Magic Woman” performance by the one and only Santana. Cool, right?

“I got a black magic woman, got me so blind I can’t see that she’s a black magic woman. She’s tryin’ to make a devil out of me…”

It seems as though the concept of conniving and mischievous women was quite a “theme” back in the 60’s and 70’s with several songs hinting at the mysterious, evil powers that women possessed and utilized to achieve their greatest desires.

Santana’s “Black Magic Woman” fits the bill with the line “yes you got your spell on me baby, turning my heart into stone,” playing into the idea that women are supernatural creatures with incredible influence.

Interesting Fact: This was a hit for Santana, but few people know that this song is actually a cover of a 1968 Fleetwood Mac song called “I Loved Another Woman” that hit #37 on the UK charts.

With stunning guitar, drums and piano, this became one of Santana’s biggest hits and will forever remain a beautiful call to all sirens.
