Sammy Hagar Tries To Imagine Retirement

Sammy Hagar is far from calling it quits. In a recent interview with Audacy Music, the 76-year-old rocker opened up about his dedication to music and the fans who’ve stuck by him for decades.
Hagar said:
“I have to [go to ’till the end]. I’ve made this commitment to my fans.
“I’ve taken them on a journey and asked them to accept me as who I am. They follow me around the world. I can’t drop them off someplace. I’m going as long as I can.”
But he’s also honest about what could bring his performing days to a close. He admitted:
“But trust me, the day I stand on stage and can’t sing and can’t perform the way I need to then I will have to quit.
“I’ll be forced to quit. I won’t quit, but I may be forced to quit someday.”
A Smarter Way to Keep the Music Going
Hagar knows that constant touring may not be sustainable forever. That’s why he’s made a big change. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, he’s stepping away from the traditional tour life and choosing a new model that’s easier on his schedule—and his body.
Welcome to Vegas
Instead of endless travel, Hagar is now taking the stage in one place: Las Vegas. His new residency, The Best of All Worlds, kicked off on April 30, 2025, at the Park MGM. People magazine highlighted the show as a major moment for Hagar, who’s joined by longtime friend and bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, and drummer Kenny Aronoff.
Rocking Steady with a New Routine
As KRNA noted, this residency setup lets Hagar keep doing what he loves—just with a bit more breathing room. No matter the format, Sammy’s still giving fans everything he’s got. And it just means the Red Rocker would still be rocking—but doing it his way.
