A Touching Tribute
Nancy Wilson has dropped the title track to her upcoming debut solo album You and Me, out on May 7 via Carry On Music. Co-written with longtime collaborator Sue Ennis, it’s a tender and touching tribute to her late mother. The video features footage of her and her mother alongside the lovely lyrics.
Wilson told Rolling Stone that the song “is a zero gravity conversation with my mom that exists outside of time and space.” She explained that she “used paneled mirrors to find the camera lens for a more otherworldly feel as if I’m talking to both me and my mom through the connection of our common DNA.”
She added, “Working with Sue Ennis on this song and on this album for me has been a great reconnection to the joy of creating new music.”
In an interview with iHeartRadio, Wilson also called this “a song for women”.
You and Me features covers of her favorite tunes along with original music which she wrote and worked on during the lockdown in 2020. Some of her musical guests include Sammy Hagar, Taylor Hawkins, and Duff McKagan. She previously teased the LP by releasing her version of Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising.
