Neil Young is streaming a previously unreleased track with Crazy Horse titled Born to Run from his recently-released collection Neil Young Archives Volume II. It was recorded during the sessions for his 1975 album Zuma but it didn’t make the final cut. Although it has the same name as the Bruce Springsteen classic hit, that’s as far as the similarities go.

While recording 1989’s Freedom, Young dug deep into his archives and unearthed the song. He then revisited it with Crazy Horse for 1990’s Ragged Glory. Its final version appeared on bootlegs but now, Born to Run finally saw the light of day. Listen to it below.

Neil Young Archives Volume II features 131 songs from 1972 to 1976 in chronological order. It includes previously unreleased material and also has new tracks. On March 5, he dropped a digital format of the package which can be accessed on his Neil Young Archives website.

Young has been busy since 2020 digging deep into his vault and churning out spectacular music which were not officially released. From the start of the pandemic until today, he’s been dropping surprises for his fans. He did share before that he’ll be working on various projects so we’ll be expecting more releases this year.
