Jagger’s Health Scare Forces Stones To Postpone Dates
April is off to a rough start for The Rolling Stones, who have been forced to postpone the entirety of this summer’s No Filter tour of North America.
The news came over the weekend, the result of a doctor’s appointment that discovered something alarming in frontman Mick Jagger that requires immediate attention. While no official explanation as to what the medical emergency is, a report from Reuters via the Drudge Report allegedly reveals that Jagger, 75, is slated to undergo heart valve replacement surgery, a procedure that should have him back on his feet and ready to go by summer.
Rumors of Jagger undergoing heart valve replacement surgery are unconfirmed and again, provided to the Drudge Report by an “unidentified source”.
The Rolling Stones issued a statement on Saturday announcing the postponement of the tour:
“Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming US/Canada tour dates – we apologize for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly.
Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back onstage as soon as possible.”
Jagger then spoke, issuing a statement of his own.
“I’m so sorry to all our fans in America and Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”
Bandmate Keith Richards also addressed Mick’s health woes, expressing his disappointment with the postponement but showing support for his friend of several decades.
The North American leg of the Stones’ No Filter tour was slated to begin on April 20 in Miami before wrapping on June 29 in Ontario, Canada. Rescheduled dates will be announced shortly, so if you purchased tickets to a show, don’t throw it away – you can still use it when the new dates are announced!
Our hearts and well wishes go out to Mick Jagger as we hope for a speedy, full recovery for the singer and we can’t wait to see him back out onstage where he belongs.
