Foo Fighters just dropped a raucous cover of Chuck Berry’s 1958 Christmas classic “Run Rudolph Run.” The band recorded their rendition for the final installment of the concert series Amazon Music Holiday Plays which premiered on Tuesday, December 15 on Amazon Prime Video. It was hosted by Lil Nas X.

This isn’t frontman Dave Grohl’s only holiday offering this year as he collaborated with producer Greg Kurstin for their “Hanukkah Sessions” where they covered a diverse set of songs by Jewish artists – The Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’, Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’, Mountain’s ‘Mississippi Queen’, Peaches’ ‘Fuck The Pain Away’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’, Elastica’s ‘Connection’, and The Knacks’ ‘Frustrated.’

Foo Fighters are also prepping their new album “Medicine at Midnight” which comes out on February 25, 2021. According to guitarist Chris Shifflet, “It’s definitely a little different than anything we’ve ever done before and it’s a little bit different than anything else on the record, although the record has a lot of songs that are, you know, groove-based like this one is. Dave’s a drummer so he’s always coming up with rhythmic twists and riffs based on rhythms that he hears in his head.”

Grohl also told Kerrang!, “Our love of rock bands that make these upbeat, up-tempo, almost danceable records inspired us to make the album that we did. To me, there’s songs on the record that are rooted in Sly & The Family Stone, or David Bowie, or The Power Station, and things like that. We sort of relied on a lot of these really energetic references and influences to put this one together – and we surprised ourselves.”
