Henley Signals the Possible End
Don Henley recently stirred concern among fans of Eagles when he suggested that 2026 could mark the band’s final year on stage. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, later reported by Ultimate Classic Rock, Henley spoke openly about the group’s future and his own plans.
“I think this will probably be it,” Henley said in a recent interview with ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ according to Ultimate Classic Rock. “I feel like were getting toward the end, and that will be fine, too.”
He was also asked directly whether 2026 would be the band’s last year performing. “I think so, yeah,” he replied. “And I am OK with that.”

More Shows Added in Las Vegas
Despite those comments, fans received welcome news this week. The band has added two more dates to its residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. The additional concerts are set for April 10 and 11.
Before this update, the run of shows at the Sphere was scheduled to end in March. The group is also set to appear on May 2 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. These new performances give audiences a few more chances to see the band live if 2026 truly is the final chapter.
Looking Ahead to Life Beyond Touring
Henley explained that his reasons for stepping away are personal. After decades on the road, he said he hopes to focus on family and other interests.
“And I would like to spend more time growing vegetables,” he added.
He also spoke about travel and the limits of touring life. “We see the airports and the hotel room and the venue, and we don’t get out much,” he said. “I’d like to go back to the places I’ve been and see more of those places before it all disappears.”
Henley made it clear that music has been central to his life, but he wants more balance. He said he does not want to have “a one-dimensional life.”
“This is great, this is wonderful, but there are other things,” he said. “There’s just lots of other things to do.”
A Band With a Long History
The Eagles formed in 1971 and became one of the most successful rock bands in American history. They have won six Grammy Awards and released six number-one albums. In 1998, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The band first split in 1980 before reuniting in 1994. Co-founder Glenn Frey died in 2016. He was later replaced on tour by Vince Gill, helping the group continue performing for a new generation of listeners.
