A Must-Have For Every Fan
In 1971, Joni Mitchell hand-published a book containing handwritten lyrics, poems and paintings as a holiday gift for her closest friends. She only made a hundred copies. Titled Morning Glory on the Vine: Early Songs and Drawings, it will be reissued by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in the US and by Canongate in the UK this October 22. This will be part of a celebration of the folk legend’s 75th birthday, in addition to a tribute album and concert. This one will feature additional works and an original introduction written by Mitchell herself.
This is the first time the book will be commercially published.
“Morning Glory on the Vine is a gorgeous and intimate keepsake and an invitation to explore anew the dazzling, visionary world of Joni Mitchell.” – Joni Mitchell’s website
For her friends, she signed, numbered, and wrote individual notes on each copy but “the existing copies of this labor of love have rarely been seen in the past half-century.” You can pre-order on Amazon or on Mitchell’s site here.
