“Big Yellow Taxi” Singer Suffered Aneurysm Last Year
In a year where we’ve said goodbye to more rock legends than we’d care to bring up, we have one bright spot as the lovely Joni Mitchell stepped out this weekend to attend jazz pianist Chick Corea’s show at the Catalina Bar and Grill in Los Angeles, her first public appearance in over a year following an aneurysm that nearly claimed her life.
It’s been a long road to recovery for Mitchell, 72, as she’s spent her time recovering after she was found unconscious in her home in late March, the result of a life threatening aneurysm and while reports flowed in that suggested Joni was in a coma and not likely to survive, friends and family of the singer were quick to dispute rumors that the intensely private Joni was doing anything other than fighting hard to make a full recovery.

While friends and fans hesitate to call Joni’s first public appearance in well over a year ‘a comeback,’ the fact that the “Big Yellow Taxi” singer is out and about again and enjoying her life by doing the things she’s always loved to do is a great sign that the first lady of folk music isn’t going anywhere any time soon and will be with us for years to come. Welcome back, Joni!
