Bringing southern rock to Elvis Presley’s hip swinging song “Heartbreak Hotel,” Johnny and the boys deliver an awesome signature Skynyrd version of one of the greatest hits of all time in Atlanta, Georgia. With deep, gritty, raspy vocals, Johnny owns this classic with his own style as the boys sit on stage carrying him along the iconic tune.
Interesting Fact: “Heartbreak Hotel” earned Elvis his first gold record, given for sales of over one million.
From eighth album Endangered Species, released in 1994, the beautiful acoustic “Heartbreak Hotel” was included with older Skynyrd hits like “Devil In The Bottle,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Saturday Night Special.”
Trying to throw back into the beginning Skynyrd days with these hits, spicing up the album with “Heartbreak” and other acoustic instrumentals that really add flavor to the collection, Johnny explains to the Atlanta crowd, “I think if you’re a true Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, you’ll love this album. You guys go check it out, okay? How about a little Elvis for ya..?”
Thank you Johnny, we would love to hear some Elvis. Always.
