He Also Has Other Projects
John Mellencamp has previewed his upcoming 25th studio album with a new song titled I Always Lie to Strangers. You can listen to the one-minute sample on his official website here. He’s yet to finish the LP but before the start of the pandemic, the legendary musician already managed to cut ten tracks and is currently planning to record 17 more. There’s no release date yet but might come out later this year.
Meanwhile, he also unveiled another project – a live album and documentary titled The Good Samaritan Tour this spring. The documentary is about his 2000 free tour where he performed on street corners and public parks throughout the country. It will be narrated by Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey. He shared a sneak preview on his YouTube channel.
A statement on his website shares his plans and projects.
It reads, “At present, we are looking to tour in 2022, but that all depends on the pandemic and our ability to recover from it… In addition to music and film, Mellencamp will resume production (Covid pending) for an untitled original play directed by Kathleen Marshall, produced by Scott Landis, and written by Naomi Wallace. We hope to resume production soon, but again, the timeframe will depend on the pandemic and our ability to recover from it.”
