He may not be Stevie Ray Vaughan but we’re sure glad John Mayer is keeping the blues alive with his covers. And what better way to pay tribute to the late guitar great than to play alongside his former band? Besides, this is probably one of the best SRV covers you’ll ever hear. Mayer is one heck of a player — different tone and attack but he still made it his own. What a lucky guy. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to play with your hero’s band and with a very famous tune too. This is one bad ass cover. Somewhere, Stevie is probably smiling and ripping his guitar.

SRV’s roadie Rene Martinez said it best when he spoke of John Mayer having his own style and yet still the closest we’ve got to Stevie. That’s definitely a huge compliment right there. Keep on rockin’, John!
