Hear Stevie Nicks’ Heartbroken Tribute To Orlando Victims, “Touched By An Angel”
Fleetwood Mac Singer Dedicates Song To Families, Victims Of Orlando Tragedies
Last week the world was rocked by the tragedy of the Pulse shooting in Orlando that claimed the lives of 49 and injured 53 more and also by the shocking death of 22-year-old Voice finalist Christina Grimmie. In response to the heavy weight of grief and overwhelming sadness cloaking a nation still wondering how these things still happen in 2016, Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks took to her website where after briefly expressing her sorrow, she dedicated a demo of 2001’s “Touched By An Angel” to those we lost and to those who remain, grieving and no doubt trying to adjust to their ‘new normal’.

Touched by an Angel
Sometimes~ In a difficult situation, a song from the past will call out to me. Concerning what happened in Orlando~ I hope these words might be comforting to those involved. I dedicate “Touched by an Angel” to all those lost~ and all those left behind. I have included the original demo because it is my favorite version. This was my mother’s favorite song~
All my love,
I also send these words to Christina Grimmie~ and to her family, so sad…so very, very sad~ I am so sorry…
Stevie is no stranger to tragedy – the loss of her best friend, favorite uncle, friends and her beloved mother just 5 years ago have all shaped Stevie into the phenomenal woman and songwriter we know and love today, and where others tend to withdraw from pain, the Fleetwood Mac singer embraces it and uses her gift to bring comfort to those in need. As the world struggles to comprehend the horrors of last week, it’s our sincerest hope that songs like “Touched By An Angel” will bring peace to the loved ones left behind and serve as a fitting tribute to the lives of 50 people who are missed and loved beyond measure.
