“I Really Feel Badly For Brian,” Says Who singer
If you weren’t thrilled about Axl Rose stepping in for Brian Johnson this summer as AC/DC’s lead singer, don’t worry – you’re not alone; there’s another fan of AC/DC who’s got a few choice words for the band and their new lead singer.
Earlier this week The Who’s Roger Daltrey sounded off on AC/DC’s recent shakeup, first remarking on how devastated Brian Johnson is at having to step away from a band that’s been his entire life for 36 years and saying, “I mean, I really feel badly for Brian,” Daltrey told Postmedia Network. “It must be heartbreaking for him after all the service he’s given that band over the years.”
Fun Fact: AC/DC isn’t the first band to carry on after a member departs, nor are they the last – The Who continued following the deaths of Keith Moon and John Entwistle, even gearing up for a major show this fall.
However, Daltrey quickly turned his attention to AC/DC and their new bandmate. Calling the entire thing “karaoke with Axl Rose,” Roger slammed AC/DC’s decision to move forward without Brian and says that after nearly 40 years together, he thinks “AC/DC will miss Brian much more than Brian will miss AC/DC” and says not to expect to see him at any concerts any time soon – both out of loyalty to his friend and out of sheer distaste for what Daltrey calls a “karaoke tour”.
