What A Show!

While there may be no hope of ever seeing Rush back together and performing on stage, other members are certainly keeping themselves busy including Geddy Lee. Last April 10 during The Claypool Lennon Delirium Show at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, the crowd was treated to a special performance when Lee himself joined the band on stage for a spectacular cover of The Beatles’ 1966 song “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

Geddy Lee took to Instagram to thank the band for the invite. He wrote:

“Last night the good folks of the Claypool/Lennon Delirium kindly invited me to invade their show during the closing number..The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows”…it was such a blast to jam with these talented guys and most especially to appear with my pal .. the inimitable Les Claypool .. . thanks for the awesome show boys!”

Geddy Lee, Sean Lennon, and Les Claypool all in one stage? That was seriously one lucky audience. After the concert, Les Claypool wrote:

“Last night was a pinnacle moment for this Ol’ Colonel’s career. My dear friend and childhood superhero Geddy Lee decided to join The Delirium onstage in Toronto for our rendition of Sean’s Dad’s Tomorrow Never Knows.

“As Geddy slinked out of the shadows with my Pachyderm bass in his mighty grips, the crowd slowly swelled to a frenzy of recognition. The energy and excitement was so palatable that it brought a joyful tear to my eye.

“Like Joe DiMaggio stepping back up to the plate, Geddy proceeded to show us all why he is one of the greatest to ever wield a four string piece of furniture. It was pure magic and I imagine I’ll feel the tingle on the back of my neck for some time.

“Alas, our recording equipment went on the fritz so it will only live in our minds… and on the handful of cellphones that were fortunate enough to capture the glory. Good times.”

Aside from The Beatles, Claypool Lennon Delirium also performed their take on other classic rock tunes from Pink Floyd, The Who, and King Crimson. Check out the fan footage below.
