He Knows You Know
Bohemian Rhapsody was an absolute game-changer. It wasn’t the first biopic film ever made but it definitely made history by passing over $800 million at the box office. And it’s not just about its commercial success, it also received numerous nominations and awards from The Oscars, Golden Globe Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
But the film has come under fire after winning Best Film Editing at The 91st Academy Awards ceremony. The issue is the scene where the band members meet their would-be manager John Reid for the first time. Interestingly, editor John Ottman wasn’t impressed with that work either. He told Washington Post:
“Whenever I see it, I want to put a bag over my head. Because that’s not my aesthetic. It may still be possible to fix the editing problems in that scene, though.
“If there’s ever an extended version of the film where I can put a couple scenes back, I will recut that scene!”
The cuts and camera switches were dizzying, to say the least. And if you’ve somehow forgotten about it or didn’t pay too much attention to it while watching the movie, you can check out the clip below.
