Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen is hosting three art exhibitions at Wentworth Galleries in South Florida from his “Legends” series – paintings of musicians who influenced him. The rock legend himself will meet and mingle with the attendees and fans. In recent years, Allen has been showcasing his works as a visual artist. And just in February, he revealed that he’s been working on a painting of the late rocker Eddie Van Halen who passed away in October 2020.

Aside from EVH, “Legends” features other famous rockstars like Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, and Freddie Mercury.

Allen, along with his Def Leppard bandmates, were supposed to embark on a massive stadium tour with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett but their touring plans were delayed by the pandemic. And so, like every other musician on the planet when coronavirus hit, he suddenly found himself looking for ways to stay busy.

He then spent much of his time painting.

“I got a wee bit depressed when it first happened. But it became a blessing, simply because I could spend time around my family,” he explained. “We all paint, and we all play music. My youngest daughter is a very proficient pianist. So, between myself, my wife and my youngest daughter, we’ve had tons of stuff to do.”
