Dee Snider Unhappy With Super Bowl Half Time Show For Ignoring “Heavy Music”
YouTube / Napalm Records
Dee Snider expresses his frustration with the Super Bowl half-time show in a series of tweets he posted online recently. His frustrations came after learning that pop stars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be headlining the show and points out that the NFL uses metal songs as go-to’s in just about every game. He expresses that it is no slight on the two singers, but rather the NFL for not recognizing metal in the biggest game of the year. Here are his tweets:
WTF!? @shakira and @jlo for this year’s @nfl halftime show!? Once again the great heavy music that rocks the stadiums week after week, game after game is completely ignored. I guess we don’t shake our ass enough!!

Hey @NFL! Your go-to songs at EVERY game are metal: Enter Sandman, Cum On Feel the Noise, Thunder, Crazy Train, We’re Not Gonna Take It, We Are the Champions, Final Countdown, I Wanna Rock, We Will Rock You, Welcome to Jungle. NONE of those bands have EVER played half-time show!

My point about this years @NFL halftime show isn’t a slight on @shakira or @JLo, it’s frustration that week after week rock is the go to music during games but gets no respect when it comes to the Super Bowl! And I don’t think I’m popular enough for that slot. But @Metallica…

Does Snider have a good argument? We think so. In fact, we’ve been campaigning for years for the Super Bowl half time show to feature AC/DC! Wouldn’t that also be a treat? But here’s proof how much Snider loves metal because he actually wrote a song….”For The Love Of Metal”. Rock on!
