Dave Mustaine Says David Ellefson Can Never Rejoin Megadeth

So much has happened ever since sexually explicit videos and screenshots from David Ellefson made rounds on the internet. He was accused of grooming an underage fan, was fired from Megadeth, and all his bass parts on their upcoming album deleted and replaced. When they announced Ellefson’s dismissal in May, the band said in a statement: “We do not take this decision lightly.”

“While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship,” they added, “what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward.”

Ellefson has already sought “revenge porn” charges against the person who circulated the videos and messages.

Dave Mustaine recently teased their new bassist, but we still don’t know who he is. Mustaine’s been pretty active in Cameo though. And in a new video commissioned by YouTube channel Rock Feed, he addressed the possibility of Ellefson returning to Megadeth. Unsurprisingly, he quickly shut down any talk of reuniting with his former friend and bandmate.

“Any chance on Ellefson coming back later on? The answer to that is no,” Mustaine said.

While Megadeth has clearly been busy working on their upcoming LP, no release date has yet been announced. Its tentative title is “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!”
