Santana’s Back – With A Few Old Friends

The day has come: Santana just released the first single from their highly anticipated Santana IV, and it rocks. The first taste of the classic Santana lineup since 1971, “Anywhere You Want To Go” features the talents of Journey alumni Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, who from the very first verse of the song instantly take us back to an era of music we thought was gone forever.

Slated for an April 15, 2016 release date, Santana IV marks the first album with Santana, Rolie, Schon, drummer Michael Shrieve and percussionist Michael Carabello since 1971’s Santana III.  Rounding out the lineup as the band’s rhythm section are bassist Benny Rietveld and percussionist Karl Perazzo, joining the lineup in place of David Brown, who died in 2000, and Jose “Chepito” Areas.

Carlos Santana On The Classic Lineup Reunion:

“When you can go back and break new ground with joy and determination – and some whoop-ass energy – it gets you going.

I think we achieved something very rare. This music was screaming to come out of us. It wasn’t about nostalgia. It was about passion.”

The best part of “Anywhere You Want To Go”? It’s a throwback to Santana classics like “Oye Como Va” and “Evil Ways”! Complete with a killer organ solo by Rolie paired with Carlos Santana’s unmistakeable lead guitar prowess and sprinkled with a little of Neal Schon’s magic, “Anywhere You Want To Go” is everything die-hard Santana fans could have dreamed of in a reunion of the band’s classic lineup.
