“Slightly Dead”

It’s every musician’s dream to have an opportunity to jam with one of their hero’s. Back in April, Slightly Stoopid’s dream came true when they had the opportunity to play with one of their idols: Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead. The ska, reggae, funk, rock fusion band were invited to Weir’s Tamalpais Research Institute to record a live webcast performance with the Grateful Dead legend. The jam session consisted of a groovy, funky and epic collaboration on the classic “Franklin’s Tower.”

The performance includes a plethora of guitar solos, saxophone solos and a wide variety of instruments like slide trombone, bongos and piano. Weir and Slightly Stoopid create a wonderful sound together, and compliment each other perfectly. They slightly speed up the tempo of the song, and create a more festive feel with the addition of the horns. We feel that the Grateful Dead and Slightly Stoopid could easily tour with each other, and we hopefully will see them collaborate more together down the line!
