Another Legendary Bassist Left Fans

Bassist Deon Estus sadly passed away at 65.

He was an outstanding bassist as he was just not known for his work with Wham! and George Michael but he also rendered his talents to the likes of Frank Zappa, Tina Turner, Annie Lennox, and Elton John to name a few.

It was officially announced on his Twitter page.

His partner Brenda Pearce also released a statement through Facebook saying:

“My dearest, closest partner and significant other of four years transitioned, and all I can remember is our last conversation the day before,” “My heart will need time to heal. RIP Deon. Love you forever.”

Deon was young when he first started out playing bass. He took lessons from James Jamerson of Motown’s Funk Brothers. After years of playing and when he eventually moved to London, George Michael discovered him. He then joined Wham and eventually George when he went solo.

In 1989 Deon released a solo album called ‘Spell’. Watch one of Deon’s TV performance back in 1989 below.

Rest in peace Deon.
