AC/DC made a swift return to the stage on Monday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina, less than a week after guitarist Stevie Young was hospitalized. The performance marked the opening night of a three-show run in the city.
The band — featuring Stevie Young alongside his uncle and lead guitarist Angus Young, vocalist Brian Johnson, bassist Chris Chaney, and drummer Matt Laug — launched into a 21-song set at Estadio River Plate. They opened with “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” from Highway to Hell and closed, in customary fashion, with “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).” Fan-recorded footage and the complete setlist have since surfaced online.
Hospitalization and Recovery
Stevie Young’s health concerns emerged following the band’s March 15 performance in Santiago, Chile. He reportedly fell ill and was admitted to a Buenos Aires hospital for precautionary testing. At the time, a spokesperson confirmed that he was in stable condition and maintaining a positive outlook, with expectations of returning to the stage for the Buenos Aires dates.
A Legacy Role Within the Band
Young has been part of AC/DC since 2014, stepping in for his uncle Malcolm Young, a founding member of the band. Malcolm had been forced to retire due to dementia and other serious health complications before his death in 2017.
Stevie’s recent hospitalization echoes the challenges AC/DC faced during their 2015–2016 Rock or Bust tour, a period marked by significant health and legal setbacks. Despite this, the band has continued to push forward with its touring schedule.
Following the Buenos Aires residency, AC/DC is set to play two additional shows at Estadio River Plate before heading to Mexico City for a three-night engagement on April 7, 11, and 15. Their 2026 North American tour is scheduled to begin on July 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will wrap up on September 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
